Those that got chicks from the "straight run" bin....

I bought 12 RIR straight run from TSC last year and ALL 12 turned out to be males. Won't buy there again!!!

I got two RIR straight run chicks with hopes of a Roo and it looks like I got one Roo and one Pullet!

I sure hope that is not the case with me either! I just bought 6 bantams from tsc this morning. I hope they aren't all roos! My first buy of chicks almost 2 years ago came fro murray mcmurray. Out of 25 chicks I only had 4 roosters. I thought that was pretty good! I haven't bought any since, untill this morning!

the tsc near me had the pens marked pullets or straight run. the straight run was 99% male and the pullest only 75% female.

For LF birds, you can almost be pretty sure it is MOSTLY males in the lot for st run just to get rid of the chicks they got there.

We bought 15 chicks "straight run" from someone selling them around the area. Right now it is looking like we have 14 boys, but we are crossing our fingers and hoping against hope that another one or two are pullets. We have already started another round. This time we went to TSC and got some assorted reds they had on clearance and 5 silkies. Hoping for a lot of pullets.

Or the customers in the mailing orders.....whatever left over, they will go to stores.​
