Those who grew up in small towns will laugh when they read this.

no golf course, or airfield in the town I lived in growing up...but we did have 2 bars until 1 burnt down...never was rebuilt either..lol
heck we didn't even have a cop...

Now where I live we still don't have a cop...but we do have a Constable (who works a normal job also, so is only avaliable from like 7-9 at night...lol)...and no bars...I now live in a 'dry township'...makes beer runs a bit hard when having a bon fire...lol

I'm a small towner and that is so true!

No air filed but we had a "golf course" and I use the term loosely. You forgot to mention that "going to town" meant crossing county lines!

I have actually met people who have never left the county I grew up in. As far as they are concerned, if you can't get it in woodford county, you don't need it!!

7) You could never buy cigarettes because all the store clerks knew how old you were (and if you were old enough, they'd tell your parents
anyhow.

I can remember when cigarettes could be bought out of a vending machine for just two quarters!

Didn't have a golf course either but did have ONE cop. My oldest brother kept him really busy!

My dad used to send us in to buy cigarettes for him. He'd park outside the Kroger and then send us in to buy a carton of Benson and Hedges menthol 100's. I was like 12!!!

This one will really shock ya !! When I was a sophomore in HS I was going to a friends for the weekend to duck hunt on the Columbia River. Well since we weren't old enough to drive and I walked to school. I took my shotgun to school and the principal put it in his office until school was out then we got on the bus to go to my friends house shot gun and all, no big deal (back then).
Most of the boys who were old enough to drive carried a shotgun or rifle in thier car or truck especially during hunting season no big deal (back then).
I spent part of my life growing up in a (so called ) small town where htere was a 4X4 post and the sign read entering Boyd. On the other side of the 4X4 the sign read entering Boyd. How's that for a small town?

Those were the days! I live in a town wtih population less than 1000. My son got suspended last year for carrying his pocket knife to school in his pocket. I might have understood this if he were a trouble maker... but he's a straight A honor student!! When I confronted the prinicipal about it, he stated that the pocket knife was a lethal weapon. I picked up a pencil from his desk and stabbed a notebook with it. "So is this pencil," I said and walked out of the room. (I am sooo bad!)
