Not sure about the leagel lenght of the barrel on a 410m but a 12 ga must be al least 18" long. Any shorter and the fine is a heavy one plus in some cases jail time.

In Texas it is 18 inches, maybe national for all I know. and total length has to be 27 inches, barrel to end of stock.

I know TC has the short barrels in rifle and maybe even in shotgun.Maybe a loop hole for single shots I dunno

I keep a 17 HMR loaded and handy. Not that loud and has no kick at all. It will drop anything that is close enough to cause me any problems. I keep it loaded at all times but I also keep the bolt out of it and in a different location. I have a teenage daughter and a 7 yr old son. I make it a point that when ever they ask they get to look at and hold and gun that I own. I am a very strong believer in the old saying "Curiosity killed the cat" If they know that they can look when they ask then they don't need to look otherwise.

As for the question about the 28 gauge. Yes it is still made. About the only people that shoot them are trap and skeet shooter. They are just about only availible in the higher priced weapons. It is a nice round but not very effective past about 50 yards.

MAC The Thompson ROCKS!! I have a 30-30 pistol and a 300 win mag rifle and wouldn't part with either. I highly suggest picking one up!
