Hi there!

One of my hatching eggs was looking suspicious when candling. Yesterday I put it up to my ear and I heard little clicking noises and I possible peep. I got excited because I thought it was dead but today I can't hear anything!

I put it in water and it floated so I guess it's dead? I know it wasn't my imagination that I heard the clicking because 4 other people heard the clicking too. It's on day 23 today by the way.

When you float it, let the water go very, very still. If the baby is moving inside, the water's surface will move. And you may have to wait a day or two, especially if your temps fluctuated at all. They're just like people-babies. Within the two or three day "window," they'll decide when to arrive, not the clock!

Best thing to do is after day 18 leave it alone until day 28. If it hatches it hatches, if not you know it's dead and less chance of temp /humidity fluctuation.

If I hadn't left my three hen-swiped eggs in the 'bator longer than planned, I would have thrown away the healthy baby that's peeping at me from in there, right now!
Happy, Happy, today!
