Thought on my coop and nesting boxes. Are my nesting boxes gonna work or are opening to small with the overhang?

What breed of chickens do you have or are getting?

I have the same for my Barred Rock and Polish but my Brahmas need more so they get like wood crates on the floor.

How big are the crates inside, and how big is the actual opening?

Might need a perch out front to ease them getting into the nests.

I will have to measure the opening. But they r standard milk crates and the are only a foot off the floor. I'm thinking we r about 2 weeks from eggs. So just trying to prepared.

Milk crates should be plenty big, so looking at the openings in comparison to that, they should be big enough as well.

I agree you may need a bar or a cinderblock steps to help them get into the boxes.
