Thoughts based on two candling pics?

We are incubating 33 of our Plymouth Barred Rock hens' eggs in a Little Giant incubator we picked up from TSC, and with today being Day 7, we tried candling. You can see two pics below of one of the eggs, which is pretty consistent with all the others: A large dark spot over approx. 2/3 of the egg, with the other 1/3 being see-through. Many of them had veins visible, but we couldn't see an easily identifiable thing resembling a chick inside.

Have we messed up somehow, or this this typical for Day 7? Any thoughts or opinions are much appreciated.

try shining the flashlight or whatever you are using through the top of the egg. It helps brighten things up

The big blob is the yolk. If you see veins, that means the eggs are fertile and developing. You won't see too much on day 7.

At day 7 you should see a dark mass that sits on one side of the egg. When slowly turned it won't move much. A bad egg at the same day will appear runny. If its infertile it will be clear.

Day 4 is when you can clearly see veins and movement.

Update:

We didn't see much while candling the 33 eggs on Day 8, and had kind of lost hope, but I just grabbed a random handful tonight for a quick candling, and found moving, healthy-looking things inside all five of them!!!

So we'll be candling them all tomorrow night, and there's still plenty of time for us to mess the whole thing up, but we're so excited!!!
