Thoughts on corn in poultry feeds.

It isn’t easy to find a steady supply of fishmeal that is ok for organic use!

The only safe place I've found for fish and crab meal is Fertrell. So many ingredients get a bad rap for no good reason. Joel has hundreds of customers with soy sensitivity, yet they've never had a problem with his eggs or birds.

That’s what it says on the bag. Non GMO grains and hog right?

I'm betting you're using Tucker. And even though they are certified non-GMO, I'd bet the porcine meal comes from feed lot hogs fed GMO grains. I'm using tucker at the moment.

I really don’t like the idea of feeding my birds or myself and family feed lot pork. I will have to bite the bullet and switch back to Sunrise Farms NON GMO. I went to Tucker when my dh had open heart surgery since it was available in our only feed store. Sun Rise feed is 50 mile round trip but worth it.

@GreenMountainEric do you ship your feeds to other states?

That's interesting. Sunrise is my preferred provider. It runs about $180 to ship 40 bags space available on Old Diminion to the depot near my house. Anthony does have a truck route so maybe he's got a drop point closer to you.

We do, but freight rates on small orders are often the biggest problem. If someone is only looking for a couple bags, the freight cost almost doubles the cost of the product. We do have customers nationwide that will buy it anyway, but its not cheap. Most of our product is moved through our dealers in the northeast (New England, NY, PA, NJ, MD, and WV).

We do have a few cooperative groups in the Midwest that buy pallet quantities of our feed, and that seems to work well. Anything less than that, we get killed on freight.

one 50# bag = $40 in freight.. 10-40 bags $180. That's from VA to TN.
