That's false

ok so I think the amount of hens per rooster is like 7 or something I currently have 4 adult hens who gizmo is terrified of and the two hens i got him with is this enough hens or should i think about adding another at some point

A rooster that, as a chick, imprinted on and was raised by humans is more likely to turn aggressive than one who imprints on and is raised by a hen. My hen raised boys have been perfect gentlemen. I think imprinting is the key. It establishes their foundation, their identity. Maybe some people know how to properly raise a cockerel, I don’t.

so I recently ended up with an accident rooster named Gizmo he is sweet so far at 4 or 5 months and starting to crow I am just nervous as I am a fairly new chicken keeper and have been told by many people that there is no such thing as a freindly rooster . My hens are all trained very well they can do tricks and are all sweet and sociable with people so maybe I can keep him friendly he does seem very submissive I just can't stand the thought of getting rid of this handsome boy. (pics of your freindly roosters are welcome)

This explains a lot. I got 13 pullets and one grew up to be a rooster. When he was younger I handled him regularly, but when he was feathered and went out to the coop, I was down in the area with him, and when it became evident that she was a he, handling became less and less. Roo is now an 8 month old Australorp. His spurs are in and he has become progressively more aggressive. I would like to be able to keep him, but want to know if it is possible to tame him so he stops attacking me. I do have to defend myself, and fear that has made his aggression worse. I am not fast enough to catch him on my own as I once did to hold him down until he calms down, or carry him around to hopefully tame him.
I would like to believe it is possible as he doesn't always attack and he only attacks with his feet; he is not a pecker.
Up until the weather changed, if I faced him and walked toward him he would back down, but now that I am having to bundle up a bit, I think he is perceiving me as more threatening.
Anyone reading this response, I am open to all suggestions.

We have a Plymouth Rock rooster that is very gentle and believe it or not very well mannered - not aggressive in mating season now in Aussie land. We have named him Mr Grey and he is nearly 2 years old. Hope he stays with the temperament that he displays now.
