WHat I meant by "stay working" was "to not get all uppity and get the bright idea to start their own businesses." It was in response to somebody's claim that there are no independent businesses in "socialist countries". In fact, there are more "Mom & Pop" type businesses there and their society is not owned by Wal*Mart.

Name a country where there are not Wal-Marts???

LOL.

OK:

The Germans must've learned a lot from their experience with the Nazi regime, enough, in fact, to get rid of Wal*Mart.

Notice how the German people would not use "hotlines" to tell on their colleagues. That's hilarious!

Too bad people are not able to band "together" more often and stand up against these kinds of business practices. That's when "people" really have a say in the quality of their lives and the practices in their country.

Waiting for the government to do it will not make it happen.

Then what was the issue to this statement?

Where did I say that other countries don't have Wal*Mart?

So then their society is also owned by Wal-Mart then too?

Are you aware that a member of Obama's team and big time national health care advocate was on Wal-Marts Board of Directors?

I think it's the drug companies that control the drugs. If a person takes a certain drug that is working for them and then there's this marketing scheme to promote a new drug the doctors are pressured to change the prescription at the risk of causing health problems for people. The new drug comes out and the docs are given samples and they promote those samples and put people through trouble. Marketing the drugs seems like another money game.

I thought most (if not all) states had insurance for uninsured kids, or is it just my state?

Heck, you don't even have to be a citizen to get free health care at the hospital here

Not in Ohio you can only get coverage if you are very low income... Once my husband made $89 dollars too much one year to qualify I was told by the social worker that if he would quit working then we could qualify!

My son was thought to have lymphoma and was sent for tons of very expensive tests... So we had to pay for these tests out of pocket because we refused to stop working and become a spongue... The system we currently have is flawed... The ones who follow the rules and pay their taxes are punished while others milk the system... It's sad that even the social workers feel your pain and try to encourage you to try and cheat the system... All I had to do is tell them my husband didn't work in the last few weeks and it would have all been free... Instead we ended up paying thousands that we just didn't have at the time... And took us months to get out of debt... I was so sick of eating roman noodles in order to pay the bills but it had to be done...

We have cut out all the extras when it comes to spending money the only reason I have internet is I use it to work from home plus home school my kids... So it's a tax write off anyways... I cook all of our food plus work my tail off in a garden to have stuff to can... Plus raise some of our own meat to save money... And now with the economy going down the drain... Hubby and I are making much less money... So the kiddos are already a month or two behind on their shots and check-ups but we have to wait until we save up the money to pay the bill... I'm not crying for a pitty party but with all the money the gov't is already waisting it's dishearting... They will pay to save a millionaire from forclosure because he got too big for his britches and ran his banking company into the ground but they won't help me keep my kids healthy because we make too much money!!! OK after our write-offs last year we only made 32,000 after taxes and that pays a morgage and supports 3 kids!

But even if we didn't have pre-existing conditions that block us from private insurance coverage we still couldn't afford it... you only get a cheap policy of around a hundred a month if you are young healthy and single... it would cost us a family of 5 with a long list of ailments about 1500 per month! and we still would have to pay a deductible and for meds and 50% on dental and eye exams...

It's also insane to pay $120 for a 10 min well child check up (and that's without getting the blood-work and extras they recomend)... man I would love to make $720 per hour! it literally takes the doc and nurses only 10 mins and that's even with a few mins of causal chit chat "Like how does she like home school?"

I just know the current system we have in place only benifits those who don't work or pay taxes... That in my opinion is flawed... and no regulations on docs or meds is really putting a strain on low income families... With the gov't stepping in they will put caps and regulate it more plus I might get to actually use some of the money I'm paying in taxes for myself some benifit instead of it all going to those who abuse the system...

I also have several friends that live in canada (ontario and BC) and they all love their health care! Of course you are only going to find negative reviews online... Their is an old saying a happy customer might tell one friend but an unhappy one will tell 10 friends... And from working in customer service for years I know this is true... few take the time to brag unless they are asked but everyone loves to complain... So it may seem like a lot of people hate their healthcare but in reality it's only a small portion of the population...

Ok I'll hop down off my soap box now

And who tells us, the big drug companies who deal the drugs to the doctors and the insurance companies who dictate which drugs they will cover....and we have it better?

No government official tells me what drugs to take for any ailment
no government tells me what treatment I can receive its not an approval system here

the price of a treatment is not even a part of the question when it comes to treatment

my doctor and I decide what my treatment course will be and what meds to take ...not the government...I think that may be a common misconception about health care

It's hard to argue with this article, and there are several more that can be found if you truly do your research.

What percentage of your income is taxed?

There is a list of approved drugs in the U.S..
You do not have the option to choose a drug not on the list, unless you leave the country to buy.
I cannot back it up at this time, but I'd guess there are treatments that are approved and some not approved in this country.
