Three legged chick

Meaties just don't die off after so many months either-some (if they can beat the butcher) can live for years. I think tying the 3rd leg off with fishing line is a very good idea. Especially if you really want to give this little one a chance.

So sad though..........although it does happen. Good luck to the little guy!

Poor stumpy up and died yesterday afternoon. The backside was almost always smeared with poop, it was not pasted, but the whole vent area was abnormal and it had a somewhat bloated appearance. RIP Stumpy!

Im soooo sorry!!!!

I was really hoping he would make it!

Good luck with the rest and God Bless!

I have never personally ordered from McMurry but my daughters poultry groupin 4H last year all ordered from them & most of the birds were disqualified for not being purebreds. My daughter joined late so we had already gotten our birds somewhere else. I would definitely complain to thge hatchery. We ordered from Cackle Hatchery thiis year & I am picking them up tomorrow. Cackle is just more convient for us since it is only about 60 miles away.

Well I must be a big chicken myself, because I was kind of relieved that the little guy died on his own. No more moral dilemma about what to do about him...

And I would think that eventually others would start picking/pecking at that spare appendage.

I ordered 25 Chicks for 4 of us, and 11 came dead, COMPLETELY trampled to death. All 8 bantams were smooshed, and the RI Reds were fine. They are shipping me my 8 and then "filling" it with others...what??? never again. My pet chicken out of norwalk was great, and has only a 10 minimum outside of a major city.
