Three new dog breeds recognized by AKC

Quote:
The national AKC breed club sets the standard and gives it to the AKC. The Aussie Club of America (or whoever) made the standard and it was accepted by the AKC. Then the Aussie breeders who show in the AKC proceeded to change the breed. The AKC doesn't have anything to do with breeding. Its just a registry.

Thank you Sillychicken! I made this post before I read YOUR post.

Sillychicken is right folks!

NP Brindle!

It's not the AKC that ruins dogs... it's greedy people throwing dogs together looking for a fast buck, and the people buying from them that ruins breeds.

Just because a dog has AKC papers doesn't mean *beep*! If you want to get a specific breed, DO YOUR HOMEWORK. Buyer beware!!

My family has always had collies, and our male was lovely. He was a plethora of tan and brown with the largest mane you have ever seen. He was nearly double the size of the "AKC Show" collies. Purebred to a fault. I will post a picture of him later on. We lost him two years ago to issues with his back legs. He was 11 years old. The average life for collie is 8-9.

Collies are simply amazing dogs.
