I have a chicken that seems to throw up water. At least she opens her mouth and a water like substance comes up. The times have been on different days and she seems to be fine in all other things. I was just wondering if chickens do occasionally throw up or if i should be somewhat concerned.

I didn't know if this should be in this category or the disease and emergency one but as i don't know if this is an emergency and didn't think it was one i decided to post it in this.

I had a similar problem with a baby EE. It seemed to eat too much too fast, or drink too much too fast and then the water would come right back out. It was just for the first few weeks, though. Now it's a great big healthy pullet.

Is yours a baby? Another thought, is there something going on with the crop, like a blockage I wonder. Does its food go down ok?

Is it a young bird? Thor threw up from time to time when he was small, younger than 4 months or so. It happened especially if he got excited, like from being chased by the other cockerel.
Thor weighed 13 1/2 lbs. at his last weigh-in and he doesn't throw anything up anymore.

Mine is an EE too. she's about 14 weeks old now and she seems fine. She don't look sick and she does what all the other chickens do. She's only done it twice now and it's been over a period of time.
