Tick Removal

Do what i did and ask your neighbor! Lol! After the initial awkwardness....

Te best I've found is to take a match, light it, then blow it out. Hold at the base of the head or whatever part has not gone into your skin. Be careful...too close and you'll be cursing...probably won't work where yours is though.

Because I am a critter nerd and I know my bugs, lol. The black legged tick, or deer tick, is the main vector of lyme disease in this area. The wood tick, also known as the American dog tick, is very unlikely to harbor it. I don't think a case has ever been reported from one. Anyway, female wood ticks are a dark brown with a bright white patch right behind their head. The males have whiteish stripes on their backs instead.

As for tick borne illnesses, males and females can both transmit. BUT males don't attach for nearly as long as females do, which reduced the chance of tick borne infection being transmitted to the host.

Nope, many of them are sexually dimorphic and easy to tell the difference
