Ticked at the PO...Update!

And this is the reason I will NOT ship or have eggs shipped. I know I may miss out on some nice chicks, but I want to give every egg the best chance to hatch. What I would most likely do to the post person would get me in a LOT of trouble.

I went to the post office yesterday to see what the problem was, and they said they had no idea because they had not seen my package. They looked and looked and couldn't find it. I told them about the tracking information and they still didnt know. My mail person was there and said she never got the package and thus never tried to deliver it, so she wasnt the one who supposedly left notice. They had no idea what the website tracking was talking about. Finally, they found the box in a bag somewhere in the po, so I was able to get the eggs in the bator. I had another box coming, and they were nice and called me when it came in so I could pick it up if I wanted. I have to say the people at my post office were very nice and helpful. It is still a mystery what the tracking page was trying to say. We never figured that out.

Anyhow, I have a bator full of eggs at the moment and am very happy about that!

Glad to hear that they were found and I do hope they all hatch for you!

Anytime you have eggs shipped to you, I would strongly recommend that you call the P.O. before they are scheduled to be delivered and give them a heads up. I tell mine to call me as soon as they come in and to be careful with them because they are hatching eggs. They always call me as soon as they find them and let me come get them even if they aren't open.

Good luck to you!

Yes, they recommended that. They said to call them in the future so that when they arrived I could come immediately and pick them up.

This is why the live chick shipments from the hatchery is not for me any longer.

All my meat chicks spent 5 days sitting around the PO and the they delivered them dead.

I dont even put the Del Confirmation on mine because it's really useless, except to prove you did mail it. And if it's late, it really doesn't matter where it was last, because the eggs have a time limit on viability anyway.

Whenever I get birds, chicks, or eggs shipped the PO calls me and I pick them up myself. At least they are handled a little less then and no missed deliveries. Our mailman drives up the driveway with boxes and honks his horn. If we don't come out immediately, he leaves ... no notice.

Shelleyb1969 and me both had eggs shipped UPS instead of USPS. they showed up in less than 24 hours from csibb.

the cost was just over $12.50 to ship. well worth it.

Shelley has 23 out of 25 showing veins. mine aren't in the bator yet...waiting on a USPS shipment from another person. it will be a neat comparison.

its been my experience that if you let the post office know that you are expecting eggs or chicks, they are really helpful and careful with them, have your shippers label them as viable EGGS, makes a difference! My post office will call me to come and pick them up, rather then send them all over the countryside!

Good Luck, and Congrats!
