Yes, my hubby and I were talking about getting one as well, but are waiting because of the noise issue. This will be our first full summer here so we also want to see how bad they are in this area. I know down at my MIL's house we find one on someone almost daily. Ewwww! I actually got Lyme's last year from a bite so it is nothing to fool around with.

So far, when it looks like the hawks nesting in back have moved on to a different area, I'll let my chickens out, and they have been snacking on them. I haven't been able to let them out past couple of weeks because the hawks KNOW they are there. I had two the other day actually sitting on the roof of the chicken house waiting....

They are juvenile hawks, and need something to practice on. I keep telling them...get the groundhogs!

The BEST way to get ticks off head and all is to get some "Tick Nippers" at your local drugstore. They are perfectly designed to get the whole tick and plastic so they don't hurt. We have a tick problem and I use them all the time.

YES! We had such an infestation of ticks. We let 7 young pullets free range on the back yard and never saw another tick after that!
