Time Out

Peace and harmony has been restored. Bad Boy the BS is now living the free life ranging about the property, a little to his dismay. Today we let him and one of our three plus year old IB cocks out into the big world. The idea was that Bad Boy should have some company, they are totally oblivious to each other. What they have in common is that they are now on the receiving end of being harassed, by those **** guineas. A lavender chased the IB off down to the creek this evening, earlier a pearl was chasing him grabbing onto his shoulder and hanging on. Poor IB, couldn't get away or fight with that **** guinea hanging on. It is the males doing it to the peas like they have been doing it to the turkeys. Poor turkeys have lost almost half of their tail feathers. Bad Boy won't come back to the pen area from the creek for being afraid of the guineas.

Well I have the .22 ready, when they start at it again tomorrow I told DW to get the crock pot warmed up cause she is going to be cookin' guinea.

That's funny! I have only 3 guineas and all turned out to be males, they are 100% free ranging. If I let a male Peacock out at this time of year they will harass the heck out of him, but I learned that if I catch just 1 guinea and lock him up in an empty pen, the other 2 are so upset they cannot function.

They will stand there on opposite sides of the pen wire and either holler or just look worried while the Peacock is free to enjoy his ranging unmolested. Oddly guineas will not mess with peahens or yearlings both will go after the guineas and put them in their place quickly, male peacocks here seem to think the guineas are peahens so they display for them and will not defend themselves very well.
