I'm in a rush so background: This morning a snake got one of our chicks, the other chick + mother were okay, we killed the snake.
From the chaos of the snake attack the food and water were spilled out, empty, and we don't know for how long- could have been hours and hours.
It's a hot day, mother and chick were in sun, no idea how long without water, chick was dirt bathing, then chick sort of just keeled over, wasn't moving- I brought it inside, it was still alive and breathing but eyes closed not moving. Been trying to give it water with electrolites, it tries drinking a little, but is breathing slowly and not moving.
Is this heat stroke, dehydration, or something else? I know the snake didn't bite the chick, and in any case it was a non-venomous corn snake.

It might be dehydration or heat stroke. Just try to get the chick drinking water. Electrolytes, Pedialyte, warm Gatorade, or sugar water would be best. Drip it on the beak, dip the beak into water, or use a dropper. If you happen to have Poultry NutriDrench give a couple of drops orally.

Sorry for your loss. Chicks will usually get under their mothers for shade, but having more than one waterer can be helpful in how weather. I usually have at least 3 year round, and more in hot weather.
