Timing for calcium

They grow up so fast, don't they?
My 3 gals +1 roo are fast approaching 18 weeks. Mr Marvin Roo is getting frisky but the gals are just not having
It. I've found depressions in the hen house pine shavings but no eggs yet. In about 6 more weeks I'll be introducing 2 newbies aged about 7 weeks. Because of age differences I will be feeding everyone the starter-grower formula and a side dish of oyster and/or eggshell calcium supplements. My big girls are 2 Buff Orpington and 1 Lavender Orpington. So my question is, for this breed, when should I begin to add a side dish of calcium? I didn't want to start too soon.

The chickens know so if they don't need it they won't eat it. I'd start putting it out. Hopefully those eggs aren't too far away.

Agreed. Put it out any time. If they don't need it, they won't eat it.

Thanks! Things are getting exiting here. Eggs soon, 2 new girls arriving just about the same time, and Mr Marvin Roo is going to get a brand new home.
