No, it's like to the right of where the umbilical is. It seems like gristle..but the left side doesn't have it. Don't they have a bone going down the center of their lower bodies? Maybe his is misplaced bc he's so small right now.

Prime is still kicking. He still has pasty butt that I'm washing everyday and oiling but it looks like he's developing sores or roughness around the vent. He's growing a bit. He is 2 weeks today and still small. He has flaky skin I believe is from me washing his butt and him being so small that the body absorbs the water all over. He may be losing what little down he has. He's really receptive to me snuggling him still and is rooming with four jersey giant babies now. I hope he gets over this pasty butt and scaly skin soon. It worries me. He still has that knot too. But he's still with us.

I wonder if he may have yeast growing from the pasty butt and wetness? Wonder if you can use a small amount of anti-fungal cream? Or maybe Neosporin if you don’t think it could be yeast.

Glad to see Prime is hanging in there. Sorry poor baby is still having problems with pasty butt. There are several good threads on BYC concerning the problem. Hopefully it will be something that the poor baby will just outgrow. Must be humiliating to keep being turned on your head and your bum washed every time you turn around.

There definitely is lots of info on pasty butt, but I'll tell ya, I have found that it clears up quickest by trimming the few little feathers that catch the poo, and even more by gently working the poop off dry, without washing. It may make it a little raw, but after watching a broody hen rip it off a chick, I thought "she can't wash it". So I've tried it dry on other chicks, and it seems to only take a couple of times that way, and it's gone. Maybe coincidence, but figured I'd throw it out there.

I like the names. My first four EE chicks were Blue, Charlie, Delta, and Echo. Jurassic World had just came out, and half my basement is already Jurassic Park themed, so it fit. Then at about 5 months old Echo turned into a rooster and had to be rehomed, and Charlie was killed by a predator. I moved the coop closer to my house and ultra-predator-proofed it, then added in 5 month old pullets from the Mennonite farm up the road, naming them Clever Girl and Char (short for Charlie 2.) The two bantams that were added later are Lex and Ellie, since I assumed they might be occasionally chased by the raptor squad and it seemed appropriate. I had to swap their names once the dwarf stopped growing since it made more sense for the little one to be Lex.

I actually have this metal Jurassic Park raptor cage sign on my coop door. It has made a few friends/family members stop and stare at the fence and back away.

I tried some neosporin I will try some antifungal. I did try a little vetrx.
