Help I am trying to candle and see if I have something going on in a Blue Duck egg and it seems to be so much harder than the other eggs. I am going to guess because these also have thick shells of the ones that I have cracked open before from the same parents.

I am not seeing any veining but i noticed from reading that with some chicken eggs that it seems as if it is harder to see the veining in it. I just hit my day 10 candling and I am trying to figure out if this egg is a dud or a keeper at this point.

Picture of what I might be looking for?

I just do chickens... but my blue eggs are often even harder to candle than my Marans! :he

Making your room as dark as possible will help. I have better luck using my cell phone flashlight. Sometimes 2 will work.

See if this link helps... http://www.metzerfarms.com/Candling.cfm

I have been on that sight tons! it has been like a guide book. Wish they talked about dealing with darker eggs though. I will try with my cell’s light.

Do you have iPhone or Android?
