tiny black marks on wattle and comb (pics)

I've noticed these spots a couple weeks ago...individually they are about the size of the head of a pin..

She is a Delaware pullet about 20 weeks old.

Here is her head...there are a few on her comb, but more on her wattle

And here are the spots close up.....

I don't think they are raised up...just looks like someone drew them on her.

Should I be worried about them?.....she seems just fine.

This has happened to my chickens right around the same age. Asked the same question then and other BYC members said they are bruises and not to worry about them. Within a couple of weeks they went away and have not noticed them again. They should be fine based on my experience.

My birds get them and they just go away by themselves nothing to worry about. I heard their bug bites but thats just what I heard.

Could be avian pox. If so, it will go away in a month or so and is usually nothing serious. Carried by mosquitoes.

You've got some good answers--- bites, scratches, etc. they're kind of like a scab, and will come and go as they get scratched, bit, etc

The ones on the wattles especially look like a scratch-- they're almost linear-- like they scratched against some rough wood, fence, ground, grass, brush, etc.

scratches. I don't think it is pox. The girls are probably just getting a little rowdy in the hen house. My White Leghorn had some places like these, and even a perfect "U" shaped black mark on her comb. Turned out to be a peck mark that went away on its own in a week or so.

BTW, She is one Gorgeous Chickie!

Thank you all for the great information. Several of my Buff Orpingtons and the Barred Rocks have these marks. I can always count on BYC to help me through the trials and tribulations of my flock!

I notice these small marks on my roosters combs (they are ameraucanas so their comb is not big) I assume they are mosquitoes bites and they go away after few days.
