Oh yeah, I have one that SAYS it will hold 2 full size chickens or 4 bantams... I have 1 pigeon in there and feel bad about him not having much room....You'd have to look carefully at the dimensions of the coop and run rather than the number of birds they claim they will house.
Boy, that's a toughie. Maybe take the chicks so mama goes back to nest?Sad news today. The tiny Serama chick died. We don't know what happened. It doesn't appear injured. Millie was trying to call the other chicks under her. I don't know if she abandoned her chick or because it died she was trying to mother the other chicks. We are so heartbroken. Yesterday it was pecking around Millie and going under her. The other sad news is that Buttercup left the nest with the four chicks and was sitting in the middle of the brooder. The last two eggs were still warm and one had pipped, but somehow the shell around the pip hole was completely crushed and broken away so basically half the egg shell is missing. The chick is still alive and peeping. The blood vessels are still there and I can't see anything else so I don't know if it absorbed the yolk yet. I put it under another broody I have in the hope it will hatch okay. I'm so worried. We have now lost two chicks during this hatch from unknown causes so I dont want to lose this one too. I feel so helpless. On a good note, the other four chicks appear to be very healthy and active. They have already been drinking and eating. I've taken Millie out of the brooder. I feel so bad for her. Any advice on what to do from here?
I'm hoping the other broody will hatch the eggs today and I can sneak those chicks under Buttercup tonight. I'll see how she does with Millie out of the brooder now. I feel so bad for Millie. I'm so heartbroken over her chick. It was doing so well yesterday and was under her last night.Boy, that's a toughie. Maybe take the chicks so mama goes back to nest?
Or take eggs and put it them an incubator?
Maybe BC will go back to nest after Millie is removed?
She keeps trying to get back in the brooder and is squaking quietly. Poor thingOr you could sneak a couple of chicks under Millie so she can experience the joy of motherhood. Her little heart is probably broken after losing her one little baby!
