So I was at rural king this afternoon to get goat feed and I stopped to look at the chicks/ducklings. One of the people who work there asked if I would be interested in taking a duckling who was in their “hospital”. I said something along the lines of yes, and now I have a tiny duckling.
for size comparison, it is about the size of an applesauce container than someone would take to lunch. I can get it to drink if I move it next to the water, but it won’t eat. Is there a way to help it learn to eat?

Be careful not to aspirate the duckling, just the tip of the bill and let him take a few sips at a time.Giving him a few drops of a poultry vitiman would be good too, most feed stores have them. You can try pecking the food with your finger to encourage him to eat some.

I would also look into getting another duckling his size, they dont do very well alone, but in the meantime a mirror or stuffted animal toy might keep him some company.

Best of luck ! He is sure a cutie !

He has a mirror and small stuffed chicken, so I’ll hopefully try to find another duckling his size sometime soon
