OK - I searched twice and couldn't find what I'm looking for here. I know I've seen something about this, so please pardon if it's a repeat question.

I have three mature hens who give me an egg each almost every day, for which I thank them. Tonight when I checked to see if there were any eggs, there was only one - and it's the size of a quail egg!

What in the world?

But it has happened to me twice also.
It is such a funny suprise to get these tiny eggs...
I look forward to see if anyone out there knows.

They are called "wind" eggs...sometimes when a hen is getting ready to quit laying for awhile (as needing a rest).....or getting ready to go into a molt.........its normal.....

Thanks, TuffOldHen! I think I'll blow it out and paint it. It's so cute.

Wind eggs - kinda funny conotation, there.
