Cricket my OEGB hatched out a couple of chicks this week. The black is an ameraucana. The white is an EE. They spent the day playing in the run and were totally pooped out by this evening.

Thanks, y'all! She's the tiniest one out there and has all the others running scared. I worked outside around the coops yesterday and all I heard from her pen was the cranky broody velocirator screech.

This morning she threw a silkie out of the coop. The silkie's crime? Trying to lay an egg in the nest box over the broody pen where her babies were playing. The poor silkie looked so confused.

I figure about four weeks and they will be the same size as mama. It should be interesting to see if she keeps trying to mother them at that point. She IS a determined little thing.

Thanks!
Thankfully with me she is as mellow as can be (unlike the hateful ameraucana broodies in the nest pen). Cricket lets me handle her and the babies with no fuss. She's a sweetie! I am loving OEGBs more and more each day.
