TINY Mystery Egg!

She looks great! And while it's really fun to see an updated picture of her, I am so sorry for the trouble you are going through. I hope you get the problem solved quickly.

Pippin really turned out to be a beautiful hen! I just stumbled across this post and my curiousity got the best of me when I read the "mystery egg" title. I had to read everything from start to finish. We've had some RIRs lay some very small egg, but they were more like ping pong ball to quarter sized. I wonder if they would have hatched, it never occurred to me.

Has your predator issue been solved?

I set a trap tonight and tomorrow night I figured the predator will be hungry enough again and I will go out and sit in the chicken house with a .22 and the door wide open. There is almost a full moon so I can see a little better than most nights. I think it will be bold and stupid enough to come right into the chicken house with me in there. Just a matter of sitting perfectly still as my scent will be everywhere whether I am in there or not.

i just found this thread and been reading thru all the posts!!! wow, what a lil cutie! I hope you find the preditor! and let us know how her eggs hatch!

She looks very gamey to me. Long neck and kind of compact sturdy stance. Is her neck as muscular as it looks or is that muffles and a beard?

Good call. Her father was a Tuzo which is very similar to a bantam Asil. To be honest with you, I think Pippin is another gyanandromorph like her sister. Those are not normal hen hackle feathers. She does have a muff from the D'Uccle mother. She may be solid black but there is no rule that says gynandromorphs have to be split in color.

I'm so glad Pippin was not lost in the attack. She is such a beauty. I know you will be relieved when you get the predator taken care of.

It is even more bizarre that Pippin may be a gyanandromorph. I didn't realize she was a sister to the "G" chicken. I hated it so bad when you lost her.

Could you explain why you think Pippin may be another "G"chicken? So interesting. I love this kind of stuff.
