Hey y'all!!! I am excited to be here and part of this site! I have already gotten huuuge amounts of useful advice and am excited for more!! Just wanted to express my thanks to y'all before I start rambling lol!!
So my sweet Pecky (she's a silkie) has decided to be a mom and has taken it upon herself to hatch a few eggs!! She's a young mom, but I have every confidence in her lol
I have verified that 2 out of 5 eggs shes sitting have chicks and are happily on their way to hatching. I've already prepared for them( extended the run bought feeders and proper chick start) I am nervous as can be and doing as much research as I can, but I find it lacking in tips and first hand advice. So I'm reaching out to you lovely people and am asking for ANY tricks tips and or advice y'all have to offer.
On a side note about the eggs; Some of y'all may wonder why only 2 of 5 are viable, or you may not lol. My poor rooster died and she waited about a week before going broody and sadly the day before she did, I made breakfast... You may guess what was on the menu that morning lol. So sadly the eggs she did lay afterwards and against my hopes only part of them were fertilized and I am still uncertain what would happen if I pulled the duds. I badly want her to have some company as Tom the Rooster died before I could purchase some more chickens and provide company.
Again sorry for my rambling and THANK YOU!!! in advance!!! Y'all are amazing!!
