Tips for a First Time Pigeon Owner

Egg shells are just fine.. :thumbsup
The new birds came today!!
They traveled a lot to get here so I first gave them some water. We still have to get their feed. Can I give them some fruits like cherries or mangoes?

When I held them, I saw mites crawling on them!! Do pigeon mites get on chickens as well? Should we treat them or return them? If we are to treat them, then how should I do it?

Is there anything wrong with their health?

There seems to be some poo stuck on one, the fourth pic.

Offer them some chicken feed. Pigeons generally do not eat fruit. If they have mites, not sure if it is available in your area, but Permethrin is something that would kill the mites.
To clean their feathers from poop, let pigeons have a bath time in a water container about (water depth 1/3 their heigth)
Green poop is not a good poop. Not sure how to have that corrected. Maybe in time they will recover from stress of travel.
Make sure their drinking water dishes/bowls are deep enough to totally submerge their whole beaks. Pigeons drink differently than chickens.

Sorry but we don't have Permethrin here.

Will antiseptic water help treat the mites?

Not sure if it would,,
Can you seek the advice of some pigeon poeople in your town, and ask them what they use/recomend ???
I searched some local videos regarding the treatment of mites and they said to add a few drops of detol into a cup of water and spray it on the bird.

The female has some missing feathers above her tail. The place looks really red.

If you can source some powdered sulfur, you could dust the pigeons with it. Sulfur does kill mites on chickens. Should work on pigeons also.
Does Amazon sell in your country??
I just went on Amazon site, Here is a partial of what they offer.

We don't have Amazon here but their mites are dying down from proper care and a clean environment and regular baths.
