Tips On Selling Eggs By The Road

throw a chicken in the middle of the road so they have to slow down, once they do, they can read the sign.

Or better yet, tie a chicken to a cinder block in the middle of the road with a sign saying, buy my eggs or the chicken gets it! :p

Umm.... err...I have had eggs store bought... in the fridge for 9 months plus, and when cracked, were not rotten..... take at your own interpretation....

As long as you didn't crack the shell, and they were not stewing in the sun for a week plus in August, you should be fine with them.

Hi
I live on a busy 4 lane highway, I had a cute sight made with a brown hen looking down at a brown egg. It didn’t cost much, but it helps potential customers see it. It measures 2 ft by 3 ft, so it’s visible, and I stapled it to an old apple bin. Most of my customers come back once they realize the difference between store bought and small farm well fed hens....then eggs,
GOOD LUCK

I need some tips on selling eggs by my road. I put them out everyday in a cooler with a big sign above them for $2.00. For some reason I don't really sell any. :(
Thanks all!
Tried selling.. giving away.. delivering and settled on freeze drying to powder.. 10 dozen at a time. As a bonus just removed a tick as was sharing.. wondering if from the coop. :sick Just another day in rural America..

My DH is an inspector for the Health Dept. We talk about this subject often since I do sell eggs... In the US, all commercially sold eggs are inspected by USDA. You can sell them at Farmers market but they are required to be in NEW packaging (no reused cartons) and kept at temperature no higher than 45 degrees. Some locations may have additional rules but those are the minimum.

I post mine on Nextdoor. If someone wants eggs, I meet them in the grocery store parking lot for the exchange. I never let strangers come to my house for security purposes. I am considering taking some to the Farmers market in a few weeks just because I have so many right now. I give away a lot to the elderly and people in need....

You can always sell the eggs as 'feed stock' for young cattle and stuff, it gets them the protein they don't always get. Just like fresh cows milk is sold for 'weaning purposes only' NOT for human consumption.

The only problem you have to worry about are dirt bags looking to win the Gtoe lottery, oh I got sick from her egg, im suing, when it's all BS just to shake you down for some free cash. Sadly there are always those type out there, which is why there are so many stupid laws nowadays. So the signs saying, cattle feed only etc, can kind of protect you as well from the squatters and fly food. If they are dumb enough to eat cat food, well, that's on them. type thing..
