I commend you for that. I often give away free food to people as well, but it's so hard sometimes to find the 'truly' needy. because they are the ones who WON'T ask for it 9 out of 10 times. I sell coffee online, and often times Ill drop some off for free at the VA clinics, or places like that, so they have some free coffee to make the people coming in and out.

Eggs, I give to the mail man, my doctors, the lawn care guy, some neighbors, etc etc. I don't think one would E V E R run out of places to get rid of free eggs :) Soup kitchens and stuff might be tricky, because they have to sometimes verify the sources of food but churches may be able to help you too if you got too many, to connect with people who truly could use the blessing of fresh eggs.

Love the idea about the VA. That is a great idea!

I have to be really careful about whom I give eggs to because of DH's job. For example, I can't give them to soup kitchens, food pantries, etc....because laws here require those to be inspected by USDA. However, I *CAN* give them to individuals. If those individuals use them at their church or wherever, that's their right. :) It's kind of silly to play games around loopholes like that but I do understand the purpose of trying to keep people safe from contaminated food. DH has told me many stories that kind of ruin your appetite to eat anything you didn't cook yourself. Anyway, I started giving away eggs when COVID hit and people couldn't get eggs at the store. I posted them on Nextdoor. People messaged me their address and I put them in their mailbox. Just kept it up since I have the eggs and would never turn away a hungry person, even if they have the money. It's just not who I am. I figure some day they will pay it forward to someone else....
 
The OP lives on a picture perfect farm- just dreamy :love I would definitely put some energy into making big beautiful and clever signage to attract the regulars who will be thrilled to have you. Like a garage sale- it's all about the signs.

People here are crazy for the fresh eggs. I give away first to the aunties, friends and neighbors who could use a boost, use them for trade or to say thank you, then I post on craigslist for $9 per 18 or $8 for 18 if you bring me a carton- and I am considered cheap lol. I am tucked away in a town at the end of the road on an inconvenient street BUT when I post it takes me just a few days to sell out. I try not to get any regulars as they tend to suck me dry of eggs and will get pushy for my stash and my feel good shares. I like a little "egg money" in my jar as it comes in pretty handy. If I lived on a cute little street or did more social media I would probably need to spend big bucks on cartons and buy 50 more chickens but I am just a backyard gal w/ 12 layers at the moment. I find it more lucrative for me to sell chicks and chickens. But a little of both is just right.

I know!! I just paid 100 bucks for 180 cartons at premier 1 supply. I had to buy in bulk to get the free shipping otherwise the shipping costs would have made them too expensive! I have enough cartons to last a year lol
 
I just went through a round of research looking for the best deals on cartons. I really need Jumbo cartons for duck eggs more than anything. Amazon seemed to have the best price on those... But in regards to regular egg cartons, the cheapest here is TSC. They charge me 48 cents each, plus tax. No shipping because they usually have them in stock. I just build it into the cost of my eggs.

We pay at least $1. to buy 12ct cardboard from the one feed store that carries. I noticed online was not that great either. I like to recycle the plastic that Costco and other stores keep barfing out anyways.

I also bought other items and the shipping was a bit high, however it could have could have been the other bulky items i purchased
