No, we didn't see as many here either, although we had a steady stream of what I think are the "regulars". I generally keep 8-11 feeders going strong all summer, but this past summer I had 5 and that was adequate. Like you, I hope this summer makes up for it!I didn't see many hummers this past summer Blooie...did you get as many as usual?
Hope this coming summer makes up for it!
Your welcome, I kept seeing this hummer going to a particular spot in this liveoak tree in my backyard...so went to look at what was so attractive to it. This pic is what I found. You don't see this everyday, in person or pics. Had to get a ladder to get a good shot.Aww, @007, I would love to see this myself, but your photograph nailed it beautifully! I've got tons of hummers here - 4 varieties - but have never been fortunate enough to see a nest and babies!! So glad you posted this!
I live in central Florida, and i agree with you. Though, sometimes it gets too cold for me. If its gonna get cold, it should at least snow.Whats the point of the cold if there's no snow? Seriously, F**k you, florida. Wow, I just went from agreeing with you to cursing out the whole state of florida.I know there are a lot of folks out there sick of the cold weather, but here in south Florida, I'm loving it! Finally, we're getting a nice winter. Its about time too!
He was a ditzy little guy, late to migrate and not too scared of people. He hung around my garden a bit then whizzed off to Mexico or somewheres.Your picture is just gorgeous! Those little spots of sunshine are never easy to photograph, so to capture one relaxed and sporting a pollen beard is a feat!
