Tis Time for a March 2020 Hatch-a-long!

My broody is down to two eggs after one quit. I was meant to remove it last night but went for a late nap turned early night so will do it today after dark.
My eggs will be shipped first thing in the morning which will arrive either tomorrow afternoon or tuesday!! So excited. I ended up choosing 2 dozen with 4 eggs of different breeds or crosses...
Thank god ebay doesn't do fertile eggs here in Australia or I would be ordering eggs as soon as one lots pips and just keep repeating... hmm now thats a thought, I may have a quick look on gumtree for a third dozen :jumpy

I would take them out of the turner and just wait to increase humidity if you feel the air cells are still small.

I removed them from the turner. the brown eggs have a good air cell. But the white not as good, but not bad. And my green from the ones I could tell are in the same boat as the white. Why are the brown eggs’ air cells good? More porous?

What's a water wiggler?

You put the probe inside one of these and it's supposed to give you an accurate internal egg temp. Figured it was worth a try.

It's kind of depressing... @livhatcher was having an issue with chicks she ordered, I believe it was her that ordered from Greenfire Farms anyway so I wanted to make her aware of what I read.

Anyway, I came across this post on facebook in Good Egg, Bad Egg group and multiple people were responding with additional bad experiences.

If you're not part of the group and you can't see it, these are the screenshots.
Just eliminated the screen grabs to shorten the post. I hope that person followed up with GFF. They have been mostly really great for me. Mine did not die at that stage. It clearly was coccidiosis as the ones who have lived seem healthy and Corid seemed to clear it up. They started dying at about day 7. Of course, a really large problem that I have read about is the different strains of cocci.

FWIW, I have ordered about 7 dozen eggs from GFF at this point, and I have been amazed at the super high levels of fertility, packing, and great hatch rate. Contrary to popular belief, the eggs are not always expensive--it is simply a game of who is looking at their eBay listings. I have bought a dozen eggs from them for as low as $12 and the highest was on the Pita Pinta at $55.

I just don't think ordering live chicks is for me. If I had not gotten that auction at such a low price after wanting the quail brabanconne for so long--no eggs available, I don't think I would've done it.

Overall, I think the farm acts with integrity, communicates well, and has done more than almost anyone in the name of breed preservation. I may sound like I have consumed all of their kool-aid, but truly, they have always treated me extremely well.

I tried last night! Bank account said otherwise :barnie Pavlovskaya too...

And what might you be bidding on? Hmmm?

I lost the Silver Campine Old English hatching eggs and I put in an offer on some BBS Olive Eggers...I may still be looking through auctions, lol. I mean...I really need to stop in case someone calls me to tell me eggs are ready or I'm going to end up buying ANOTHER incubator. :lau
