Tis Time for a March 2020 Hatch-a-long!

I had to go back and check my times from last year, just to crystallize that all my D20 pippers took nearly 24 hours to start zipping. It helped to make me a smidge less antsy haha.

I had a Marans egg take about 24 hours from pip to zip in last months hatch, yet here I am still worrying. 😂

Absolutely! It’s likely those day 20 pippers externally pipped with the internal pip and they can have 48 hours before needing to come out.

I was thinking that may have been what happened because the pip seems lower than where the air cell was. I didn’t trace on these eggs though so can’t confirm.

Haha, right now I'm worrying about all the ones that haven't pipped yet, because they're the shipped eggs I'm more invested in. Everything that has pipped is a local egg I'm sort of whatever about. And of course, when I check last year's data, the spread of pips was beginning of D20 to end of D21, so I know it's normal and fine. 😅

Welp, we've made it to lock down! I put down shelf liner in the bators and now we wait :caf

Fingers crossed the humidity in the Janoel 12 behaves...🤞 I wasn't as worried about it when I could open it to adjust as necessary, but now it is what it is!

Fingers crossed for both of you! I can't wait to see the chick pics!

I'm going into lockdown with the ducks, but at the point I don't even care about this hatch anymore. I'm hoping to set more eggs today from my farm. Cannot wait to get these duck eggs out of my bator. If I wasn't so sick and delirious I would've said no to hatching them.

Oh but ducklings are so adorable! I hope your hatch goes well and that you feel better soon.

16 chicks and 2 ducks. 4 chicken eggs didn't hatch and 1 duck didn't make it pass pipping. 1 chick is still in the incubator after helping it out this morning from pipping the wrong end of egg. The 2 bigger ducklings I got from TSC.

I have more Orps hatching on the 14th. Also, a rare mix from Greenfire should hatch around that time. In that mix we have: Liege Fighters, Alsteirer, Gold Duckwing Sulmtaler, and Quail Brabanconne. Later this month we will (hopefully) have Jubilee Orps hatching. Oh! And I have button quail eggs on the way.

Our emu eggs are doing well. At least 3 have tilt, which doesn’t really mean anything, except to possibly rule out the egg that isn’t. We’re hoping to see movement in the next week.

Wow! That looks like a lot of possible chicks now that I’ve typed it all out! Lol
