Tis Time for a March 2020 Hatch-a-long!

They just got these today... As soon as I walked into the TSC I could hear the peeps. I literally booked it to them and my husband started smirking. I told him if there were bantams that I wanted them.

He looked at all the chicks because I think he was looking for something not sure what though.
My husband is way more interested in ducks and turkeys at this point. Our TSC is getting turkeys this year, but I doubt they will be heritage turkeys which is a bummer because that's what I prefer.
So either we sexed them wrong or for some it was too early to tell but out of 15 chicks only one was male. Any other day that would have been exciting. But since they were all leghorn mixes I didn’t want so many females since I wanted to keep trying for a different breed.
At least they will probably be good layers!

True true. I can barely keep up with egg production right now haha and I only have 14 laying females. Not sure how I’ll do with a total of 28 😂

Sad news, my husband decided to put down the chick with the dislocated tendon. It would have required a lot of time and patience and with 3 year old twin boys it would have been difficult (not impossible) to give it a good quality life. It wasn’t an easy decision, but I also didn’t want it to suffer.

:hugs :hugs I'm sorry you had to do that but I totally understand. Sometimes it's the kinder thing to do.

I have more people asking me for eggs than I can keep up with right now! So why not expand! 😁

Sorry about the little one! 😔 sometimes the pragmatic approach is best.

For free or to sell? I’ll probably have to begin selling to make it worth while having all these laying hens. Good thing I have 6 months before these newbies start laying.
