Tis Time for a March 2020 Hatch-a-long!

Pics
Not a hatching eggs because my ducks won't mate with my drake, but this egg weighs 3.8 oz. Don't mind it being dirty, I was excited so got pics before we washed it 😂

Try waiting 50 to 56 days for emus!
Yeah no hatching emus was so much faster when I was a little kid. We'd collect the eggs on the weekend, take them to ostritch farm up the road to be incubated and pick up fresh hatched emu chicks. I was convinced they only took a week to hatch.

My grandfather hatched ostrich and I remember how long it took. It felt like an eternity when I was a kid.

We had african ostritch briefly but don't think we ever hatched their eggs. They started an 8 year fear of birds for me. Now as an adult I can appreciate their beauty

We are currently on day 17 for 1 egg and day 10 on 6 eggs. Killing me slowly... All I can do is lift the lid to the incubator and go “hmmm, the emu eggs are in here” no candling, no wiggle tests for WEEKS!

So I’m relying on you people to make some baby peepers for some entertainment lol

I put my shipped eggs in last Thursday (24 BBS Orpington eggs) and I am trying to be very good about not touching them until after day 10. It's hard not to candle to make sure they are growing but I think if I leave the incubator closed it may help counteract some of the effects of being shipped. Fingers crossed. Day 10 is the 23rd.

Just a few more days! You got this!

I think I won’t candle mine tomorrow. I can only see the white ones. A little on the brown and nothing at all on the olive colored ones. Will I ever see anything on those or will I just have to wing it?

I have a very hard time seeing anything in the colored eggs or the dark maran ones only the light brown and white lol.
