So where do you keep your incubator?

Um...my chicken room. LOL! I'm kidding, it's an extra bedroom that is mostly an art studio but my side of the room becomes a chicken room this time of year. :lau

The Hovabator is soon to be replaced with the Brinsea Mini II Advance! It's tiny but I'm excited to finally get to try out a Brinsea incubator.

I have my 2 incubators on plastic shelves in the tub of my spare bathroom, lol. I keep the door closed to maintain more consistent room temp and humidity. There isn't a window, so it makes candling much easier.

Thats a neat idea! That way it’s all right there. No need to run to a dark pantry like me haha. But I only have one outlet/socket in my bathroom and I need two. One for the heater and one for the egg turner.

Love the calendar!! Maybe next year I’ll budget to buy one! Right now I use my phone hahaha it’s free.

I only have one outlet, too. I use a heavy duty extension cord and surge protected power strip for the two incubators and two turners.
I used to use a spare bedroom, but the temp and humidity fluctuations caused problems.

Thanks! I actually won it! BYC did a little fun contest thingy and I made the saddest duck and duck butt cupcakes to place an entry and by some miracle (probably because they felt bad for me, lol) I won a calendar! :love

Mine is in my living room. Probably not a good idea since my 3 year olds love looking at em and sometimes touch the side table enough to rattle the eggs a little, although as each day goes by they look at them less.
On the floor by the guinea pig cage in my living room. It's out of the way and near a plug. My cats like to look at them when they start peeping. My kids aren't that interested.

Tomorrow night the lowest temperature will be 29 degrees so I’m wondering if I should wrap my incubator with some blankets. I already put small towels on the windows at night I make sure not to cover the vents

Our windows are almost 50 years old and suuuper drafty, so we do the whole plastic window covering business in the winter...I hate doing it because we cant get any fresh air that way, but without it we would freeze or spend a fortune trying not to. Hopefully one day we will have the dough to just replace the dang windows! We're also on propane, which is so 🤬 expensive, so we keep the indoor temp no higher than 65F. Hoping to get the wood boiler up and running next year. But....I haven't felt the need to wrap blankets around the bators, the temps have been good despite the frigid cold outside (negative or single digit temps at night, warming to balmy temps in the teens during the day). Supposed to be 40 degrees on Saturday, though 😁😁.

Not sure why I worry about the cooking making the temp spike in the bators...I think someone may have mentioned it so I'm paranoid now 🤣 I've been paying attention, though, and all looks good.

How cold is it getting in the house? We keep it at 67-68 in the winter and it hasn't had any negative effects on the incubators.

I was wondering: what are you cooking for it to be that effective at changing the incubator temp 😂

It doesn’t get that cold every day. It just happens to be in the 20s tomorrow, the rest of the week will be 30s, 40s and 50s but not 20s anymore
