Tis Time for a March 2020 Hatch-a-long!

I'm sorry! That is definitely frustrating. I'm glad everything is starting to come together for you though!

This is the time of year where I can hatch lots of extra peeps because the demand is higher locally. I have to taper down as the season ends or I'll end up with more peeps than I can keep, lol. So my husband is usually ok with the massive influx of peeps as long as I keep moving them out (or if I sneak some under a broody hen he won't notice, lol).
My husband wants me to hatch more chicks because our chicken swaps are starting this month and end in December so there will be a lot of people buying more in the spring and summer.

Demand is high now, I do have 3 friends with their hands out waiting for my hatch. They are okay with mutts and EE my more expensive eggs LO, legbars, and olive eggers will be sold, after I have my pick. I do have a friend who is a breeder, and he said he will take my pure rooster chicks for fresh blood, so that is good.
I have someone that is local that will take all of the cockerel chicks that I do not use for the freezer. He basically has a bachelor pad and he uses the roosters to till up his gardens.

If I had the money I wouldn’t mind doing that. But instead I just use a tractor and the poor roo’s go to the freezer.

I did it! I picked up 11 BBS Marans and 12 Silkie eggs today and put them in my other Nurture Right 360. The 1 overflow Silkie egg went in with the Olive Eggers in my first Nurture Right until I check them all for fertility, then I'll move it back...unless they're all fertilized then I'll figure something else out, lol!

I'll also be getting 2 dozen Ameraucana eggs on Wednesday and the additional goose eggs from my friend...So 10 slots left in a Nurture Right, 7 slots in the Brinsea Mini, maybe squeeze some into the IncuView with the goose eggs...LOL! Don't do the math, just don't. :lau

Oh I also confirmed fertility in all 4 Sebastopol eggs last night!! :celebrate

I love the spectrum of greens. Where did these come from again?

So i locked them down today—- day 25. I have a pip externally already! Only on one egg tho. I only can get humidity up to 59% in the brinsea mini. I was going to add more sponges tonight after adding initial ones. Kind of worried. Im afraid to open it and shrink the duck. Advice? 😱

Can't you add a but of water from the outside on the Brinsea mini? I wouldn't worry about 59% though. It's pretty close to what you're looking for at 65% for hatch. I haven't used my Brinsea mini yet but I'm going to treat it like my Nurture Rights and IncuView, in which case my goal hatch humidity would be 65% but I wouldn't worry if it stops at 59% unless I see the membrane at the pip location starting to turn brown from drying. IF and only if it start to brown then you can add slightly warmed water to more rapidly increase humidity. I don't anticipate you having issues at 59% though. Good luck!
