Tis Time for a March 2020 Hatch-a-long!

Do you have a local poultry group where you can ask about hatching eggs? That's where I found lots of great local breeders and I've made several great friends over time. I also have found a handful of people through craigslist if you have something like that where you are. Not to be an enabler...but I am. lol
I met two farms on Craigslist... One I give roosters to and they give me free fertile eggs in exchange. The other farm I pay, but it's not much and they have very rare breeds but most of the offspring is barnyard mix since they don't separate unless it's their polish.

I have Gumtree which I guess is like Craigslist, but I find there isn't many of the eggs I'm after on it. I did find a bloke who will take all my spare cockerels though which is great. My current eggs are from a breeder I found in a chicken facebook group and I guess he can supply me with lots of eggs.
Honestly thinking about it I don't know what I'm complaining about, I have a few breeds I'm waiting to mature then I can just start hatching their eggs whenever I feel like it :lau

@livhatcher it's like I couldn't control my fingers and BAM I opened the rarebreedauctions website you posted again, upon which I saw Isbar eggs, then I hopped on eBay to see if there was anyone closer selling Isbar eggs...now I see that there's someone in Bainbridge, GA. The the slippery slope to see what other breeds they had for sale. Sebastopol geese, Porcelain and White Duccles, Isbars...stop me, stop me from sending them a message to see if I can do local pick up. :lau

It's nice to have fertile eggs in your backyard. That's exactly what I do. I see which rooster is mating with who and pick my eggs.

😂 Glad I could help... I convinced my husband yesterday that I need a bantam flock. He said okay as long as I don't buy chicks a TSC. He's not fond of buying a chickens from hatcheries or feed stores because of all the diseases that you could get. So more eggs in the bator once I move these darn duck eggs out!

I really need to get another incubator because I don't ever want to be in the situation where I'm incubating other people's eggs and I can't do mine because theirs are taking up my whole incubator.

Time to work on that fridge incubator!

I've been doing the same thing - local pick up rather than shipped. So for me to tell you to stop would be hypocritical. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it! :p

Yes, I do too. (That's what I keep telling myself any way.) :D

I mean, it's only a little over 5 hours for you to drive to Bainbridge, GA and a little over 4 hours for me.

I swore I was going to keep my chicken trips within 2 hours one way...if I do this I will be breaking my own rule twice already this year. lol :gig
