Well, truth be told, I really don't like randoms coming to my house. Biosecurity is one thing, but also showing people where you live and what you have is dangerous, IMO. I will meet people places, but basically, unless you're @Mylied there's going to be an interrogation process before anyone shows up to my place. All that to say I don't think disallowing local pick ups is sketchy. It may be a single mom or grandparent types...you just never know. My .02.

I let all kinds of craigslist crazies come to my house. I don't have much to steal. I did have a lady ask if I was going to murder her or lock her in my basement. I laughed and said I didn't have a basement. She came anyway. Lol. I'm willing to meet people places if that's what they prefer, but I'm just lazy and like meeting people here if they are getting something from me. Especially if it's a big something, like a pig or sheep.

Update: with 3 hours and 49 minutes to go, I am still the DUMBEST person on this forum since I'm still winning that stupid auction. My husband is going to shoot me.

To be tooooootally legal in TX you must sell from your farm. For that reason I often stick to repeat people or families I know. I have one family that will take anything I will give them, they probably get 80% of what I hatch.

Ziggy has such pretty coloring. All of them are nice looking birds, even Big. I'm surprised she isn't laying though. How old is she?

You know what's really funny is that I initially started meeting people at a public location because my husband is one of those guys that looks permanently grumpy and he's a very large stature dude that just happens to also shave his head bald...let's just say he can come off a bit intimidating and I didn't want people that were coming to get chicks to be afraid of him if he happened to get to the door before me.
I LATER liked that I was being extra cautious after meeting a handful of crazy people that I'm glad don't have my address, lol.

I guess I just don't worry about it too much because the chances of getting murdered by a stranger that messaged you about buying some farm item is sooo low. Plus I live in a rural area. The lady who asked me if I'd murder her, actually had me go to her house another time and showed me all her chickens...in the rain. I think she was a little cray, but I couldn't say no to an older lady proud of her chickens. Even as I got soaked.

I like that I live on the craziest goat track that nobody can find my house. I can either meet people at the pub, which is about 10 minutes away or I deliver which usually takes over half hour. Funnily when I say meet at pub they are very keen to make the drive

100% agreed! I feel that in most cases, the kind of cray cray that is coming to buy birds is a different kind of crazy than the ones that say, are buying electronics or something. Had an acquaintance that went to a meet up through kijiji for a phone he was selling and actually got mugged in the lobby of an apartment building. So you never know... I always try to feel out the person I’m doing a deal with and if not convinced that they’re the “my kind of cray” meet somewhere very public, in full view of said public.
