Tis Time for a March 2020 Hatch-a-long!

Olive Eggers! My broody hen just happens to be an Olive Egger as well. Well, she's a "not-so-olive egger". I almost sold her, made this listing and she went broody. I'm a sucker for a good broody hen and she's doing great with the babies so she gets to stay forever now!

Oh cool. So I must have 1 black olive egger and 1 yellow olive egger. She looks like a sweet girl.

5 of my babies just went to their new home. All 4 Wheatens and the White Ameraucana. They went to a little girl who is starting to show chickens. So sweet. ❤️ Down to 11 in the brooder with 3 more going to a new home tomorrow and I think I’ll growout the rest.

I don't like selling them as new chicks. They are too cute and I like seeing how they grow. I was supposed to sell some of these but they are all such pretty babies.

I hate it too! But I have 22 Ameraucana eggs and 16 Marans eggs in the bator with a dozen more on the way and I want to grow out that whole batch so I had to make some cuts. I wasn’t planning on keeping those Flowery EEs but I can’t sell them. They are WAY too cute.

How do I get friends like that? 🤩

I don't even know how I got so lucky! The only reason I haven't moved to the mountains yet is because I know so many wonderful people here!

Speaking of lucky. I don't think I shared here, my neighbor saved my escape chicken from my not so nice neighbor a couple doors down. He was going to eat my chicken. So I left a thank you on her doorstep today. How grateful was I, you might ask? grateful enough to give up a roll of toilet paper. :lau

I only got 1 flowery ee and I'm hoping it's a girl. It is pretty cute. The marans are dang cute too.

Just crumble at first. They think it's a treat if you're giving to them. ;-) Then you can give peas, chopped greens, bugs, things like that.
One more ducky question. With so many babies around I got a bag of Purina organic flock raiser. Will I still need to supplement niacin? I have a big tub of brewer's yeast in the pantry so it's NBD to supplement if needed.

I can't give you a definite answer on that. I've never been too concerned with it. I've mostly raised ducklings on regular chick crumbles and they've been fine and healthy. I used duck crumbles on this latest batch and just switched to flock raiser. They are fine and healthy. My adult ducks seem healthy too and I don't give them anything special.
