Does this look like splay leg?

How much room do eggs/chicks need when hatching? I have made 4 different things to separate breeds but not sure is some will be too small..
Now I remember why I only ever hatched breeds of different colours together

Enough to be able to push out of the egg.

EDIT: I realize that's probably not very helpful, lol. Just make sure there's enough wiggle room for however many eggs you're putting in each basket to push out without getting stuck.

Ugh, my first DIS this year. The dark khaki autosex olive egger had stopped moving and never pipped or chirped, so I had a bad feeling and checked it. It was severely malformed AND malpositioned. Completely upside down, one eyeball higher on the head than the other, legs bent backwards. Total mess. I'm glad it didn't make it out, because I would have had to cull it. It was a male, so at least there's that.

But now I'm worried about the other 4 in there. They all seem to have pipped internally, two have pipped externally, and no sign of zipping yet. What if they're messed up like this guy?

ETA - BUT it had absorbed all the yolk and blood and was otherwise ready to come out. WTF.

Hopefully it was just a weird incident and not something genetic!
