Marans and Silkies are on lockdown! I finished the weighing vs air cell growth images for bantam eggs but I'm not actually sure how helpful it will be. I'm going to make an article once I do the same with some standard sized eggs, as well as digital images. I'm hoping with multiple examples that all stayed within desirable weight and air cell size range that maybe this will help a lot of people to see what is acceptable when going by air cell size for their hatches and feel more comfortable when comparing the digital images to real images. A work in progress that is half way there at least!

If it has been some time since the chick hatched at the toes aren't righting themselves then it could be from a vitamin deficiency in the breeding flock causing curled toe paralysis (it's not as scary as it sounds! Promise!). Specifically vitamin B2 riboflavin, a multivitamin with B2 is important to supplement with this little one and it's hatch mates because it only shows in about 10% of the chicks that come from a deficient flock. You can also make little shoes for it by spreading the toes out properly and taping them in place. I think bandaids are best for the shoes but some and used vet wrap or even medical tape with little pieces of cardstock.

Ok I will give him some vitamins. So after I treat him, will he be normal? Or will he always be deformed?
