Tis Time for a March 2020 Hatch-a-long!

Weird Egg Update:

I applied triple anti-biotic ointment to the membrane. Lil chick has quite a bit of blood left to absorb, and is still alive. I will check again in a couple hours and apply more ointment if needed.

Based on this, I wouldn't be surprised if the other eggs waited until tomorrow or the next day to hatch. They were brooded outdoors for the first 10 days and it is quite cold outside, so that could have slowed development (from when mom got up to eat and drink).

I have a video, too, which I want to upload. Think YouTube people will get skeeved out by it? Looks like this baby is going to be pretty if it hatches!

Dang what is with this month? I was checking on the chicks in with Adore and saw the pen with my showgirl Juju and gamebird Sarah was dug into. Both chickens are gone. The only good thing is they were the only 2 in it because I was waiting for some silkies to grow out more. Juju and Adore are my oldest chickens.

Yes. They were in the bigger pen. The other 2 were in a chicken tractor.

I think I saw movement as well. You're not going to see as much until it starts using it's lungs. Can you see the beak?

I just checked on it again. I can definitely see the beak, and she chirped at me! A lot of the blood has been absorbed. I put her back in the bator and will check again in another hour or so. If more blood has been absorbed I may feel comfortable helping her pip.

From 5 to 8 then to 10. # left in the incubator. Which I need no later than tomorrow. Sigh, look slike I am going to have to carefully poke scope holes.
