to all premenopausal women!!! and their better halves

You people seriously crack me up.

I will be 50 in October. I have had a total of TWO hot flashes and alot of irregular cycles. Not many other symptoms. Could I just be lucky? Or am I late bloomer/flasher/psycho.

Maybe you are the lucky few, like me no morning sickness during my pregnancy. Now I got the worse end of the periomeno.

I'm 46 years old.

I really didnt start having hot flashes til I stopped my period now I get hundreds ( maybe exaggerating a little) a day. The other night trying to go to sleep I have one just get settled and here comes another. Imagine a blast furnace inside your body.I am sure with my thyroid problem that doesnt help matters. I am 52. My sister is 61 almost 62 and has never had a hot flash. My mom went through it with hardly a notice, but not me. When you are so incomfortable I think thats where the emotions come in. I was never one to have PMS like alot of people. I am getting my payback for that.

Just wanted to pass this on: I started taking the St. Johns Wort and time release Ginko yesterday, and I am really impressed already! Worked my butt off yesterday, and had energy to spare! Will see how today goes, but so far, so good!

I'm soooo glad I found this!

I almost started one earlier. I have been going thru this for about 5 to 6 years.(turned 50 in April) Hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings ect. I guess, luckily for my hubby it hasn't been too bad. He works out of town during the week, so he doesn't see alot of it. He has been very supported thru all of this. I haven't a period for I think 8 months or so and I don't miss it at all!!!

The only thing I hate is not sleeping at night. (night sweats) I'm have been taking fish oil for awhile. But, I'm gonna get myself the St. Johns wort and ginko. (I hate forgetting things!) I can't take HRT because of breast cancer in the family. My grandma still had hot flashes up intell she passed. she was 82. My mom is no help cuz she was taking care of step-dads mom at the time and she doesn't remember any hot flashes ect. My wonderful mother-in-law has helped alot. (love her) She is still having hot flashes and not sleeping at night. I don't think it every goes away!!!!!

You know, because all men are such delights to live with ALL the time, so when our tolerance levels finally erode a bit after YEARS of patience, it MUST be something wrong with US...

I started having hot flashes last year that were physically painful (I'm 56 now). It swear it was like an electric current going thru my skin.
Did a little online study and found several references to black cohosh AND my older sister swore by anything soy. Turns out soy beans have naturally occuring estrogen, and black cohosh is supposed to help with hot flashes.

I found Estroven, which is a brand name supplement with both these and also a multi-vitamin, etc. I've had really good luck with it, but its spendy (about $25 for 28 extra strength caps.) There are also generic versions, but they don't seem to work quite as well for me. And it took about a week before I got any real results, but then the difference was wonderful. I try VERY hard never to miss a day.

But I'm also going to look into the CoQ10. I had read about it, then forgot!

Oh yeah. That MIGHT be a perimeno symptom!!

I'm glad that works for you, but I cant take anything that will raise my estrogen for fear of making more tumors in my breast. I might check with the doc to see if I can take the black cohosh for the night sweats. I also have thyroid problems so I have to be careful at what I take with my thyroid meds. My doc is real good about suggesting alternatives. I had inner ear inflamation once that made me very dizzy. He had me get ginger root capsules to help with that.
