To build, or to buy....that is the question..

I have a coop that we bought and had delivered. I live in southern va and I know man that builds coops all sizes to your specs. that coop has worked well for us we have had it about 6 months so far. I am planning to build a bigger coop next spring myself. if you are in southern va or nc you may want to check the guy out that I got my first coop from. I am also planning to add to the coop I already have that I bought.

Thanks for this, but unfortunately, I am up in Maine, so I don't think the person who built yours will be able to help out..

I went and checked on prices of shed vs other things at Lowes last night.. I guess once the weather passes through New England, it is time to dig out my hammer and get to work..

Here is a question....Anyone have any good plans for a pallet coop? I have access to literally hundreds of pallets.. that's free wood. I always dismissed the idea of using them because changing them to fit the plan in my head always seemed more difficult than starting from scratch.

Sorry...I always forget about the search and I wrote that as I was running out the door to run the dog and grab some pallets. I got 13 of them on the first trip, so that should keep me busy this afternoon.

Here is a quick little question...that would cut some costs..

On my original pricing that I was figuring out, that was all for pressure treated wood. Is that what I want to use? I have a feeling the answer should be no, as the chemicals might hurt the girls if they start pecking at the walls.. If I just use a good paint on the outside, that should do the trick..

Cutting costs for me, was using free pallets from some local stores, and whatever scrap wood I could find to work with.
