Hi everyone, I am between a rock and a hard place. I have 8 pullets at 1weeks
and
two chicks at 4 weeks.

molder established hens

Of the two chicks , one I thought I had fixed a slipped tendon, re-slipped again. To the point , there’s no way to place it back. I know she’s in discomfort (of course it’s a hen). But do I Cull her and leave her brother alone? Do I keep her alive to keep company for her brother? I feel wrong to either choice. I can not go out and buy more chicks right now. So with what I have, what would you guys do in my situation?

Since my chickens are as much a part if the family as my dog I could never cull. Could you put the brother in with the other girls and give your girl some TLC. Don't know much about a slipped tendon. You can give aspirin for pain. Is it something that will heal?

Oh, I'm so sorry, I had this happen. Two chicks. Yes, it was the pullet that got a slipped tendon, I wasn't able to fix it. She was able to hop around for a month then ended up not being able to do that either, and the mother started pecking at her. I took her to the vet to be put to sleep. It is never easy, but that was one of the hardest ones, she was so young, and I really liked her.
The little roo got a long fine with just his momma.
Can you make an area for the little roo where he can see the littles but not get to them, so he has company?
