To Cull or Not to Cull (cochins and wyandottes)

True, good advice is said all around on this thread. I've checked the birds for all of the obvious defects as listed above, so everything's good there.

Just a quick question though, would there be an advantage to using a cock on pullets as opposed to using a cockerel on hens? I'm still trying to figure out if there's an honest to goodness advantage of going either way, or if it works in certain strains of the breed. I've heard that you can use whatever and they'll turn out the same, to specifically breeding one age group to another and they'll turn out the same. I honestly don't have a stand on it, so I'm trying all different methods suggested.

How would one go about from buff x mottled to red mottled? I'm not fancy with genetics, I'm afraid to say. But if that's the way to go, then I would gladly do it. I know that you have some of those rare good quality buffs, so if buffs are the case then perhaps when you have a few to spare birds you could let me know.
