To cull or not to cull, tough question

Each case is individual. HenHaven has a head hen who is a crossbeaked EE. She trims her beak regularly. The problem with yours is that it's male, doesnt lay eggs, and should not be used for breeding. Some will starve over time as the beak gets worse. I culled a beautiful 3 month old Ameraucana cockerel because his beak had just barely begun to skew a bit. He has no purpose except breeding and since crossbeak is usually genetic, we saw no option. Sad, but necessary.

Sad, but I see your point. Funny thing is that I know this bird should probably be culled and when he gets of breeding age, in a couple of months, he will be. Originaly, I bought 1 male 2 females of 8 breeds. Being that he is not breedable, it is the logical. I bought all these different breeds mainly to see which ones I would want to breed in the future. I have desided that the phoenix breed is probably not one ill be raising. If he lived to maturity it would have to be in a cage seperated which probably wouldn't be much fun.
