Oh, how tragic and sad. Gretchen, if you get a chance to read this: I am thinking of you. I have a 21 year old son and just can't imagine the loss. I hope the words of support here on the BYC forum bring you some sense of peace and goodwill amongst such tragic and violent events.
No-one should have to experience what you are having to go through now. No words can truly suffice. I wish you peace soon.

Hi everyone. Thanks to all of you who PM'd me, posted on this thread or the chickenstock thread, said a prayer for my family and my son, or sent silent positive thoughts out into the universe. All of it was sincerely appreciated and truly made a difference to me while I dealt with the pain of losing my son. Thanks, you are all wonderful.
