to hatch in egg carton or not??

THANKS KATHY! I just put my guinea eggs in, so 28 days to go. Off of the turner at day 25. I might try a few in the carton to hatch. I did notice on my first hatch last year when the hens were younger, it took a lot of energy for them to hatch out and a lot of time. Second hatch at the end of the summer, hatched much faster. All guineas grew ok and are now all the same size.

If I use egg cartons can I sit the whole thing on the turner or will it be to close to the heat?If I use the turner with no egg cartons and then put them in the eggs cartons for the last few days will it affect the hatch rate as they will not be as close to the heat source.

i did first hatch 3 wks ago ,had 95%. hand turned eggs days 1-18 , used eggs cartons in lockdown days 19,20,21.did make hole in bottom, to ensure entire egg had humidity, incubator did have fan, decided to use egg cartons after reading so many problems from others re hatching soccer(eggs being kicked around by chics already hatched)worked great for me ,will always do it that way from now on

Does it hurt for the egg carton to get wet from the water being overfilled? and what if you see condensation on the eggs from the humidity, does that hurt anything?
